What is Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage?
The Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003 paved the way to bring much-needed prescription drug coverage to people with Medicare. Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage (sometimes referred to as “Medicare Part D”) works differently than Medicare Part A or Part B. To receive coverage, you’ll choose a plan such as AdvantraRx (PDP) that has contracted with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the federal agency that administers the Medicare program, to provide the new prescription drug coverage.
Coventry's Prescription Drug Plans (PDPs)
Designed to take the worry out of paying for medications, our PDPs give you the comfort of knowing that for most drugs, you’ll have no or low deductibles and low cost-sharing amounts. Explore the options available to you through our AdvantraRx (PDP) plans.
AdvantraRx
AdvantraRx is a "stand-alone" Medicare Prescription Drug Plan. This plan is for you if you do not already have prescription drug coverage through your Medicare Advantage Plan or another Medicare Health Plan that offers drug coverage.
AdvantraRx will help you by covering generic and brand-name medications at pharmacies that are convenient for you. AdvantraRx has more than 60,000 participating pharmacies nationwide. And if you need a new prescription while you're traveling (or leave an important medication behind), you are covered across the United States.
You will pay a monthly premium that varies by plan. AdvantraRx offers three plan options to choose from. The plans vary in cost and coverage. The more coverage offered -- the higher monthly premium. You will be pleased to know that AdvantraRx's plans have no deductible!
If you have limited income and resources, and you qualify for extra help, you may not have to pay a premium. You can apply or get more information about the extra help by calling Social Security at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778), 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, or by visiting www.socialsecurity.gov on the web.

AdvantraRx is a Medicare approved national prescription drug plan underwritten and administered by Coventry Health Care plans (Coventry Health and Life Insurance Company, Cambridge Life Insurance Company, and First Health Life & Health Insurance Company).
Members may enroll in the plan only during certain times of the year. For details, contact AdvantraRx customer service at 1-800-882-3822, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., local time, seven days a week (TTY/TDD 1-888-788-4010). You must use network pharmacies to access your drug benefits, except under non-routine circumstances when you cannot reasonably use a pharmacy in the network. The AdvantraRx network includes retail, mail order, long term care, Indian/Tribal/Urban pharmacies and Home Infusion pharmacies. Generally, benefits are only available at the contracted network pharmacies.
You must be entitled to Medicare benefits under Part A or enrolled in Part B and continue to pay your Part B premium (if not otherwise paid for by another third party) and reside in the service area. You may only be enrolled in one Part D plan at a time. If you are enrolled in a MA coordinated care plan (HMO or PPO) that includes Medicare prescription drugs, you may not enroll in a PDP unless you disenroll from the HMO or PPO plan. Plan documents are available in other formats.
