Accessing Your Advantra Savings (MSA) Benefits

1. Selecting a Provider

Under Medicare Advantage Medical Savings Accounts, you may obtain covered services from any Medicare-eligible provider anywhere in the United States. To be eligible to furnish services to an Advantra Savings' (MSA) enrollee, providers must be state licensed, have a Medicare billing number or be eligible to obtain one. The provider you select must also accept Medicare.

You should identify yourself as an Advantra Savings (MSA) plan enrollee each time you seek covered services. Each time you go to the provider’s office for services, you should:

1. Show your Advantra Savings (MSA) Plan Member ID card.

2. Confirm that your provider is Medicare-eligible, accepts Medicare Assignment as full payment and is willing to submit claims through Advantra Savings (MSA).

3. Understand whether or not services you are about to receive are covered benefits. If you are at all unsure or have questions about Advantra Savings (MSA), you should contact Customer Service at 1-877-359-5331; TTY/TDD users should call: 1-866-386-2335, Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., ET. From November 15th through March 1st, additional Saturday hours, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., ET.

4. You may also contact Medicare at 1-800-MEDICARE, (1-800-633-4227), TTY: 1-877-486-2048, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

It is important to note that every provider has the right to decide whether or not to agree or to accept Advantra Savings’ (MSA) members. You should always consult with your providers before seeking treatment.

2. Submitting Claims

Providers cannot charge you more than the Medicare-approved amount. It is important that you or your provider submit claims for Medicare A and B services to Advantra Savings (MSA) rather than paying providers directly (even before you meet your plan deductible) or using your MSA debit card.

Claims should be submitted with proof of payment to the following address:

Coventry Health Care, Inc.
Advantra Savings (MSA)
Attention: Claims and Customer Service
PO Box 7154
London, KY 40742-7154

Providers may also submit claims electronically. The Advantra Savings (MSA) electronic claims payor ID is: 25152.

This information is also printed on the back of your Advantra Savings' (MSA) Member ID card.

If you have not yet satisfied your deductible, Advantra Savings (MSA) will transmit the claim information to HealthEquity, our contracted MSA financial administrator. You may make the decision whether to pay the Medicare-allowed amount using your MSA funds or whether you want to write a check for the Medicare-allowed amount out of pocket.

Use your MSA debit card to pay for qualified medical expenses that are not covered by traditional Medicare or for non-medical expenses. NOTE: Non-medical expenses are subject to taxes.

3. Using Your Account for Different Types of Expenses

The chart below shows how a Medicare MSA Plan works when you use your account for different types of expenses.

4. Your Advantra Savings (MSA) Identification (ID) Card

While you are enrolled in Advantra Savings (MSA), you should use your Advantra Savings (MSA) Member ID card instead of your red, white, and blue Medicare card whenever you get covered services. Don’t discard your Medicare card. Keep it in a safe place. If you get medical services using your Medicare card while you are an Advantra Savings (MSA) enrollee, the Medicare program will not pay for these services and you may have to pay the full cost yourself.

Please carry your Advantra Savings (MSA) Member ID card with you at all times – show this card at every provider’s office, facility or emergency room. If your ID card is ever damaged, lost, or stolen, call our Customer Service unit right away to get a new card.

5. Advance Coverage Determination

If you have any questions whether Advantra Savings (MSA) will pay for a service, including inpatient hospital services and services obtained from providers not affiliated with our Plan, you have the right under law to have a written/binding advance coverage determination made for the service.  Call Advantra Savings (MSA) Customer Service and tell us you would like a decision if the service or item will be covered.

6. Accessing your Medical Savings Account

For services covered by Medicare, such as hospital services or doctor’s office visits, you or your provider should submit claims to Advantra Savings (MSA) even before you have met your deductible. This is to ensure that you do not pay more than the Medicare-allowed amount and that expenses are credited against your deductible. Advantra Savings (MSA) will electronically transmit claims to HealthEquity and you can make the decision whether to use your MSA to pay these funds or send a check to the provider directly.

Claims and reimbursement requests should be submitted to:

Advantra Savings (MSA)
PO Box 7154
London, KY 40742

Remember you can use your MSA funds for plan-covered services before you have met your deductible as well as other qualified health expenses that are not covered by Original Medicare. Once you have met your deductible, Advantra Savings (MSA) covers your plan-covered services.

To ensure that your deductible is properly credited and that you do not pay more than the Medicare-allowed amount for services, please ask your provider to submit claims directly to Advantra Savings (MSA) both before and after you meet your deductible.

HealthEquity will send you a special debit card to use with your account. We strongly encourage you to use this card to pay for only those qualified medical services that are not covered by traditional Medicare, e.g., hearing aids; prescription drug copayments or non-Medicare covered prescription eyewear to ensure that you do not pay more than the Medicare-allowed amount for services. Amounts over and above the Medicare-allowed amount will not be applied to your deductible.
